untitled, no. 011
even in a field full of perfumed roses
or in a garden filled with scented hyacinths
would ever my desire for beauty and heavenly scents
be realized.
for i am as ugly as a root
and as foul as a tomato
surrounded by lonely leaves
and never will be loved.
it is the sprouting flowers who gain the most fame
not the stringy stalks or thorny sides that support its frame
so no matter how hard i wish to be the One
it will never be, as long as i’m just
a
simple
leaf.
